Another week, another design challenge.

This week I’m continuing with the Behance Adobe XD challenges. I learned how to create a scrollable graph with clickable hot spots. While working on the design it got me thinking about the graph tracking ups and downs. Mainly the ups and downs of searching for a job in design during a pandemic, the ups and downs of trying not to burn out during a job search in a pandemic, and the ups and downs of overcoming fears of doing a job search in a pandemic. Most of all, the fun and excitement of writing an epic run on sentence on purpose.

Tracking things in a graph can be a very powerful motivator. Getting to add up all of your small victories and stepping back to see the bigger picture of your accomplishments can really pick you up and push you forward during these uncertain times. Gold stars don’t only work for grade school, they can work for anything you’re striving for.

I know it’s sometimes hard to see the forest from the trees, but each tree counts! And not everyone has to hear the tree either for it to count. It doesn’t need to get likes for it to count. And it certainly doesn’t need to be perfect for it to count. The graph doesn’t lie. Every step does in fact count towards your goals.

Some weeks doing the design challenge is a chore, and other times I can’t wait to jump in. The same goes for writing this blog. I’m still very new to the overall process. I never enjoyed writing papers in school. I would often get stuck staring at the page for hours paralyzed. I can still get stuck, but I have been practicing. And that practice has resulted in a wall covered in gold stars. Now I can stand back and see a new blog ready to be posted.

I may be writing this for myself more than anyone else, and I’m sure it’s been written about countless times, but it’s worth repeating. (Like tracking your progress on a graph!) The more you practice, the easier it will become, the higher your graph will go. Never give up.
